QUESTION
How much sand should I use in a 55-gallon saltwater aquarium?

ANSWER
The amount of sand to use depends on how deep you want your sandbed. The following recommendations are based on a 48"x13" footprint.

• For a 1" deep sandbed, you'll need approximately 35lbs of sand
• For a 2" deep sandbed, you'll need approximately 65-70lbs of sand
• For a 3" deep sandbed, you'll need approximately 95-100lbs of sand
• For a 4" deep sandbed, you'll need approximately 130-135lbs of sand
