Not really, although putting a skimmer that is meant for a 100 gallon tank on a 10 gallon tank will usually not be able to work as efficiently as a properly sized skimmer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Many people do rely on water changes instead of skimmers, but if you tend to be a lazy person like me and are good for the first few weeks or months and then start slacking a skimmer will help (somewhat) make up for this.
