Kessil dropped some bombshell news just in time for the Marine Aquarium Conference of North America (MACNA) show this weekend.
The Kessil A360X is the successor to the hugely popular A360WE. The original A360 lights have become a staple in reef-keeping. You see them used by coral farmers at pretty much every aquarium show and frag swap in the United States.
Kessil promises that the new A360X is more than just an upgrade. It is a complete redesign that retains what people love about the A360 and incorporates a ton of new groundbreaking features which they promise will make it rival the best reef (Tuna Blue) and planted tank (Tuna Sun) lights on the market today.
The A360X is leveraging the technology of Kessil’s award-winning pendant lights but makes them even better by achieving a higher Photon Volume Density (PVD), adding more individual colors, smarter communication, improving transition points, and having light-shaping capability.
Thanks to the redesigned sunflower heat sink and high efficiency vortex fan, the A360X has 25% more light output with 30% less in volume size, equivalent to almost 80% higher PVD than the A360.
The new design enables streamlined vortex airflow to dissipate heat more efficiently and prevents dust accumulation which adds longevity and reliability. The A360X features the latest and most efficient patented Dense Matrix LED technology from Kessil’s parent company DiCon Fiberoptics, Inc.
Kessil has also added more individual color control, so hobbyists can create unlimited color combinations for aesthetic-purposes while maintaining the performance of the core spectrum.
“The A360X is a masterpiece, combining years of expertise in mechanical, thermal, software, and optical,” said Kessil Brand Manager David Lowry. “With a foundation of the most popular LED aquarium light along with beautiful shimmer, superior color mixing, and unrivaled penetration, the A360X is pushing the limit even further to provide exceptional lighting for aquarium hobbyists and professionals alike.”
The A360X also features a smart new communication method called K-Link, which keeps the plug & play feature of 0-10V while allowing more control to hobbyists.
With the new Spectral Controller X and WiFi Dongle, aquarium keepers can easily network multiple A360X lights and set individual groups to run their own unique programs, allowing unlimited programming possibilities. The A360X can also be used with optical accessories to shape the light, allowing hobbyists to modify the look of the aquarium to their liking.
The A360X can be controlled using the knobs on top of the light or programmed using the brand new Spectral Controller X and a WiFi Dongle. These sold separately control accessories will take full advantage of the A360X’s features, whether it is full color control, custom lighting schedules, or moonlight mode.
The Kessil A360X will be available at Marine Depot in November 2018 for an estimated retail price of $449.
Be sure to stop by booth 124 to say “hi” to Kessil and check out the new A360X light in person this weekend September 7-9 at MACNA 2018 in Las Vegas, NV.
